ABOUT KEVIN FITZPATRICK

Kevin Fitzpatrick, the son of a New York City Police Officer, was born, raised and attended school in the New York City borough of the Bronx. After turning 18 his strong family traditions and pride for his country lead him to join the United States Navy during the controversy of the Viet Nam War. During his 4 year tour in the Navy, he was chosen to serve as a Presidential Honor Guard in Washington D.C. under President Richard M. Nixon. After completing his Naval service and being granted an Honorable Discharge, he joined the Police Department in Norfolk, Virginia. Kevin moved to Florida in 1974 and was hired by the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. While being employed as a deputy with the Sheriff's Office, Kevin earned a Bachelors Degree in Criminology from St. Leo College and an Associates degree from Hillsborough Community College. Kevin is also a graduate with instructor status at the U.S. State Department’s Dignitary Protection and Counter Terrorist Schools. He has lectured extensively throughout the United States and has instructed Police Officers from all 50 states in Specialized Police Operations. He is married and the father of four children.

Kevin's tenacity and genuine concern for people earned him a place of high distinction within the Sheriff's Office and he just recently retired after 29 years of dedicated service with the distinguished rank of Lieutenant at the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. During his tenure with the Sheriff's Office, he has received awards from not only the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office, but various other Law Enforcement Agencies as well as numerous accolades from appreciative citizens.

Kevin has dedicated the majority of his life to protecting the people who live and work in Hillsborough County. With over 34 years of experience serving his Country and County, Kevin would like to ensure the protection and safety for the people of Hillsborough County both now and into the future as their Sheriff.
