Fitzpatrick states,

"It has been said that "Leadership" is not learned. It is not taught. It is a quality that comes from within. I have been praised throughout my career as a leader who "gets the job done". It has also been said that "Experience is the best teacher". It has been an honor and a privilege for me to have served the residents of Hillsborough County in my positions as deputy, detective, supervisor and administrator. I want to put my experience on the streets of Hillsborough County as a lawman for 29 years and my leadership qualities to "get the job done" for you, the residents of Hillsborough County, as your Sheriff."

As Your Sheriff I commit to:

• Giving the residents of Hillsborough County the best possible service to help insure their personal safety and well being.
  
• Constantly evaluating personnel assignments at the Sheriff's Office so that all available Law Enforcement personnel are used to perform their tasks in the most efficient and professional manner to the benefit of the residents of Hillsborough County.
  
• Being fiscally responsible to you, the residents, who pay for the services you receive. All residents have a right to know how their money is being spent. I will hire Professional Accountants to keep track of your money. I will welcome audits by the residents of Hillsborough County's representatives on the board of County Commissioners.
  
• A new era of cooperation between all Law Enforcement entities serving Hillsborough County on either the Local, State or Federal levels to reduce crime in a pro-active manner and to protect against threats to our community.
  
• A policy of strict enforcement of anti drug laws. The vast majority of prison populations in this country are comprised of persons somehow involved in the buying, using or committing crimes to support drug habits.
  
• Hiring the best qualified women and men to work at the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office. I believe and have always believed that the Sheriff's Office will be most successful if it reflects the diversity of the community it serves.
